I have often wondered why the breakfast nook is named as such. Why is the furniture in that area referred to as the breakfast table and chairs when most families eat almost all of their meals there? The truth is that this was not always the case. There was a time when families actually sat down at the dinner table in the dining room every night for dinner. Breakfast was something that was grabbed quickly and not necessarily all at once. Supper was a more formal affair than it is today. In modern times, kids have practices and lessons at all hours and it is hard for most families to find the time to sit down to a long dinner. Instead, we quickly fill our plates in the kitchen and sit down at the closest table, which happen to be the breakfast table. As our lives have evolved into a faster pace, we eat more meals in the kitchen and as a result, the breakfast nook furniture available today is massive compared to what was available even a few decades ago.

There are breakfast nook tables made of almost every material you can think of. You can find kitchen tables made of solid wood, a combination of metal and glass, wood with ceramic tile on top, and even plastic. You can find a breakfast nook set to match any kitchen décor. For example, I saw a television show once where the designers redid a kitchen in a Spanish theme. The table was mostly made of wood, but they added a punched metal apron to the sides to tie in with the punched metal in the cabinet doors. In addition to the materials available, you can find breakfast tables in almost any shape or size. It used to be that all kitchen tables were small and round but that is definitely not the case anymore. You can find tables that are round, square, rectangular, octagonal, hexagonal, or an unusual shape to fit specifically in an odd sized breakfast nook. There are some breakfast nook tables that only seat two and there are ones that are designed for large families and seat up to fourteen. Whatever you needs, there is a breakfast nook table for you.

As varied as the table choices are, the chairs for breakfast nook seating are even more varied. Of course, most people want to chairs to match the table and buy them as a set. However, it does not have to be that way. Many people find an older distressed table and then mix and match funky chairs that they find in yard sales and second hand stores to create an eclectic and fun room. In addition to the material and design of the chair, there are other choices that you have to make. For example, will the chairs be upholstered, use breakfast nook cushions, or have no padding? The material of the upholstery or cushions is also important. If you do not have any children to worry about then you might consider leather or suede upholstery to give your breakfast nook a more formal feel so you will feel comfortable inviting guests in there to share a meal. Another decision to be made is whether you will have chairs, bench seating, or a combination of both. Benches are good if you are trying to fit a large number of people at the table because you can fit more people on benches. In addition, benches usually come with under the seat storage compartments that are handy for any homeowner. However, benches can be uncomfortable for your guests who do not want to sit too close to others or for larger individuals who do not like sliding in and out of booths. That is why a combination usually works best.

Benches are not typically a type of seating you see inside the home. It is common to see them outside with picnic tables and deck furniture, but they are usually thought of as too informal for inside the home. However, there is one room where bench seating has become almost the norm. It is very common to see benches in the breakfast nook or eat in kitchen area. There are many advantages to using this type of breakfast nook seating.

First, a breakfast nook bench often comes with extra storage space. I think you would be hard pressed to find a homeowner who does not need more storage areas. There never seems to be enough room, especially in the kitchen to store all of the things that a person needs close by. The result is that you cabinets get cluttered and your counter tops get crowded. Some of the things that you might want to store in your breakfast nook bench storage are table linens, kitchen linens, small kitchen appliances, extra or special china, art supplies for the kids, board games, and much more.

I have table cloths and placemats for every season and holiday. As you can imagine, they take up a lot of room. I used to store them in a bin in my basement, but it was inconvenient to go down and get them when I wanted to change the look of my breakfast nook. Now, with these items stored right under the seats, I can easily change my décor any time I please. I also keep extra kitchen towels, oven mits, and pot holders in my corner breakfast nook seats.

Another reason that benches have become more popular in the breakfast nook is because people want to be able to seat more people in a limited amount of space. A general rule of thumb is that you can fit one and a half people in the same amount of space that one chair will take up if you use bench seating. That means that instead of two chairs along the long side of a table, you can have a bench and seat three people. As people tend to spend more of their time in the kitchen for meals and less time in the dining room, the need for more seats gets greater.

Along the same lines, if you purchase a corner breakfast nook set, you will be able to fit a larger table and have more seating in your breakfast nook than you might otherwise have had. Corner sets are usually equipped with an L-shaped bench that fits into the corner. Yes, you will have to slide in and out of the bench or booth, but you will be able to fit more people around the table for meals.

Even though some people consider a bench too informal for inside the home, you can find more space for people to sit, the ability to have a larger table, and extra storage space if you decide to go with breakfast nook benches.

Depending on how your house is laid out, you might have a corner breakfast nook. In other words, the breakfast nook is situated in the corner of your home where two walls are outside walls. The alternative is a breakfast nook that extends from the kitchen where the kitchen is in the middle of the house. In this case, only one wall or perhaps no walls of the breakfast nook are outside walls. However, there might be other walls encasing the breakfast nook on the other two sides, not leading to the kitchen. In this case, you could also consider your breakfast nook a corner breakfast nook because you can still utilize corner furniture sets. Another alternative is where you build the breakfast nook out slightly farther than the rest of the house so that three walls, if it is square, or more walls, if it is some other shape are outside walls. With this alternative arrangement, the only option for breakfast nook furniture is a table that sits in the middle of the space. On the other hand, if you have a corner breakfast nook, then your breakfast nooks set options expand. You could put a table in the middle of the room; or you could use a corner breakfast nook set.

The advantage of a corner breakfast nook set is that you will be able to use a larger table than if you placed on in the center of the room. When a table is in the middle of the room, you need to leave about three feet of space on every side so that there is room to pull chairs out. However, if you purchase a corner table with benches, there will only be about eighteen inches between the wall and the table on two sides. That gives you an additional eighteen inches of table space in both directions.

One factor to consider if you want to get a corner breakfast nook furniture set is the fact that at least some of the seating will be benches. If you have a large family and need lots of seating, that could be an advantage. Kids do not mind sliding in and out of booths and it is easy for them. You can fit more people on a booth that you could in chairs in the same amount on space. On the other hand, if you are going to be asking guests to sit at your kitchen table, then benches might not be the best choice for you. Some people are uncomfortable sitting as close to other people as you have to when sitting on a bench. In addition, some people have a hard time sliding in and out of a bench.

Another factor to consider is the two outside walls and whether or not there are windows there. If your breakfast nook literally is in the corner of your home, then there will probably be windows on those two outside walls. If the kitchen furniture that you choose has high backs on the corner benches, they could block the windows. IF you have windows on the two walls where you will be utilizing the corner for furniture, make sure that the seating arrangements do not come up high enough to block the windows. In addition, you will need to make sure that the window treatments do not interfere with the seating arrangements. You do not want long drapes that fall onto the bench seats. If there are no windows, then you have a lot more flexibility when choosing your corner breakfast nook furniture for sale.

If you are looking for a more traditional and rustic look for your breakfast nook furniture, then you might be interested in the Santa Fe breakfast nook set. The materials of construction and the overall design of the kitchen furniture pieces mean that this set is better suited to a masculine, country themed kitchen.

The Santa Fe breakfast nook set is the perfect solution for a family that needs a lot of seating, but has limited space. This set consists of a table and seating for eight to nine people. The seating is a combination of benches. There is a three seat bench with no back running down one side of the table. Then, there is an L-shaped bench that wraps around two of the other sides. The L-shaped bench is made up of a corner piece, a two seat bench, and a three seat bench. There are no chairs, so if you and your family are not comfortable in booths and on benches then this set is not for you. Keep in mind that not only do the benches mean you can fit more people at the table, they also mean extra storage space. There is under the seat storage in the L-shaped bench where you can keep anything that you need to.

This breakfast nooks set is made of distressed poplar wood. The combination of the distressed stylizing and the dark stain give the Santa Fe breakfast nook set a very earthy and country feel. One way that this manufacturer has elected to keep costs down is by combining solid poplar with poplar veneer. You cannot tell the difference from the outside, but the veneer lowers the cost significantly. The other material of construction used in this furniture is slate tiles. There is a row of inlaid slate tiles along the back of the L-shaped bench. These tiles are sealed into place and give the furniture a touch of color and character. The wide variety of colors and patterns in the tile make every version of the Santa Fe breakfast nook original.

One clever feature of this furniture set is the drop leaf that fits between the wall and the corner part of the L-shaped bench. The drop leaf provides a little shelf above head level where most people put some flowers, pictures, or other decorations. Yet another good feature is the fact that the set is reversible. You can put this furniture in any corner and make it work.

The cost of the Santa Fe breakfast nook set can be anywhere from $789 to $1,035 depending on where you shop. All in all , I think it is a great value for the money.

I have found that there is one breakfast nook set out there that is very popular and can be bought from various sources online. This article will give you a good review of this product and let you know whether it is an appropriate furniture set to purchase for your kitchen. That breakfast nook set is the Soho Delfino. The Soho Delfino breakfast nook set consists of a table and seating for eight people. There are two chairs and a wrap around corner bench made up of three pieces: a two seat bench, a corner bench piece, and a three seat bench. The two chairs sit opposite the longer part of the wrap around bench.

The first positive that I see is the combination of chairs and benches. The benches allow more people to sit than would be able to if you had only chairs. In addition, the benches have under the seat storage and it is very convenient to have extra storage close to the kitchen table for table linens and other kitchen linens. On the other hand, the chairs are very nice because they are more comfortable for some people to sit in. Not everyone one likes sliding in and out of a long booth or bench.

Another positive for the Soho Delfino is the materials of construction. These high quality materials will last a long time and look good too. Chrome legs support the black tabletop. The chrome is carried over into the legs of the chairs and benches as well. The final place that you see the chrome is in bars that create open space between the bench seats and the bench backs. I like this touch because when the bench seats and bench backs are continuous, it reminds me of diner booths. The chrome separators provide a much more modern look. The fabric on the benches and chairs is a velvety microfiber that comes in five different colors: red, black, beige, eggplant, and Moroccan brown. Microfibers are known for their durability and softness.

The one down side of this breakfast nook furniture set is perhaps the cost. It is one of the more expensive sets that I have come across. I have seen it advertised for around $1,279. This might be a lot of money for someone to spend on kitchen furniture, but I think it is worth it. The furniture is of good quality and should last a long time. The modern look is a plus considering you are getting seating for eight. Usually larger breakfast nook sets are more country themed. It is hard to find modern looking furniture for a large family.

A common trend in how people use their homes is the abandoning of the dining room in favor of the breakfast nook or eat-in kitchen. It is a time saver to have your family fill their own plates in the kitchen and then sit down at the kitchen table. The alternative is to use multiple serving dishes and carry everything to the dining room where it will just have to e cleaned up later. Because of this trend, there is an entire class of furniture that has hit the market called the breakfast nook set. A breakfast nook set usually consists of a table and seating that can be chairs, benches, or some combination thereof. No matter what your style is and how your home is decorated, you can find the perfect breakfast nook set for your home.

When picking out breakfast nook furniture, I like to think about the table first. It is the largest piece of furniture and it will be the biggest presence in the room. In order to utilize your breakfast nook space to the best of its ability, you want to get a table as large as possible. A good rule of thumb is to measure the dimensions of the breakfast nook and then subtract three feet from all sides. That is how big your table can be. The three feet is so that you can leave room for people to pull out chairs and sit down. Another aspect of the table to consider is the style and materials of construction. Whatever the decorating theme of your kitchen is will most likely dictate this point. If you have a modern kitchen with black countertops and glass door cabinets, a wooden table just would not look right. Something with glass or metal might work better. Remember to keep the theme going and you should be fine. The last characteristic of the table to consider is the table height. Table height can range from normal to what we call a high top. High top table require stools rather than chairs or benches. The type of breakfast nook that would be well suited to a high top table is one where you only have room for a table for two. Then, the high table is reminiscent of a café or bar.

Once you have decided on the table, the next step is to pick what you are going to sit on. As I said above, most breakfast nook sets are either chairs, benches, or a combination of the two. However, some will use stools if the situation is right. You want to balance the number of people you can sit at your table with the comfort of those individuals. Benches will allow for more seating, but they are not as comfortable as chairs. Another thing to consider is the style of the table you have chosen. You want to make sure that the style of the table lends itself well to benches or chairs. Modern looking tables do not go well with benches and high top tables do not go well with benches or chairs. One thing to keep in mind about benches is that they often come with extra under the seat storage space. Extra storage is a very good selling point, but you have to make sure it looks good too.

Buying a breakfast nook set is a great way to have nice looking furniture without the hassle of purchasing each piece of furniture one at a time.

There is a style or technique of home decoration that goes something along these lines. You’re out shopping for a new couch for your living room when you see a dining table that would work really well in your breakfast nook. So you buy it. Sometime later, your sister has just updated her dining room furniture and offers to give you the chairs from her old set. Now you add a “new” set of chairs to the table you bought awhile back. Then one day you’re out antiquing and you spot an antique farm house bench that would just complete all the furniture in your breakfast nook. You have a new table, newish chairs from a completely different dining set, and now an antique bench. Nothing “matches,” but everything goes great together. Buying a breakfast nook table set is sort of the opposite of that, except for the everything goes great together part.

I like buying sets of furniture and I also appreciate the look that buying furniture piecemeal can bring to a home. I think the mildly obsessive compulsive aspects of my personality lead me to prefer matching sets of furniture. In fact, I can remember getting in deep trouble with my mother when I was young because I complained that the silverware she was serving for dinner didn’t match. She still reminds me of that to this day. Back to the topic at hand.

A kitchen breakfast nook set generally will have a table, a single bench without a back, and an “L” shaped bench with a high back. When a manufacturer uses the term nook, they are frequently referring to the L shaped bench part of breakfast nook dining sets. The corner shape and back are remarkably good at giving the feeling that your new breakfast corner nook set is a separate and distinct part of the house. As the name implies, you’re assured that all the pieces in your set will match. This definitely takes all the guess work out of making sure disparate pieces of furniture go together.

Prices for complete breakfast nook sets range from $300 (or less depending on quality) and go all the way up to $2000 before any delivery fees. A good value price point falls between $1000 and $1200. I’m always trying to maximize space so I tend to favor benches with built in storage compartments. These compartments are great for storing board games, toys, or art supplies. You will be surprised how much you can pack into a breakfast nook set with storage. I would not expect to pay a premium for storage functionality.

Here are a couple of breakfast nook sets that I think are a good value.

The Santa Fe Breakfast nook set comes with a corner bench with backrest, a rectangular table, and backless straight bench. This set will comfortably seat four or five adults. The contoured and smooth design plus the rich dark brown finish really give the furniture a Southwestern feel. However, the thing that makes this collection unique is the “variegated” slate inlay on the backrest of the L shaped bench. Unfortunately, the Santa Fe lacks any kind of built-in storage. All in all, this is a sharp looking set is well worth the roughly $1100 purchase price.

The Soho Delfino breakfast nook set comes with a rectangular table, two chair, two backed benches, and corner piece that connects the benches. This set features a modern design with chrome metal finish on the legs of each piece. The chairs and benches have padded cushions with stain-resistant microfiber covers. Each bench has a lift up seat that reveals a shallow storage compartment. The Soho comes in a number of colors. This collection won’t disappoint if you’re in the market for a black breakfast nook set. The microfiber cushion covers aren’t suitable as a substitute for leather, so if you have your heart set on a leather breakfast nook set, look else where.

Some individuals like to decorate each room in their home with a theme and a popular one is the 1950s style breakfast nook. Since the breakfast nook is such a small room, there really is not a lot of opportunity to make an interior design statement. Therefore, you need to make the statement big with the few pieces of furniture and design elements that you have. In addition to the furniture, you can change the material of the floor, the wall coverings, or curtains to evoke the 1950s kitchen.

Furniture is the easiest way to get your 50s style breakfast nook. One of the most popular choices is the diner table with booths. When you think of a diner table then you probably think of a Formica table with an aluminum edge. Most likely, it will be rectangular with one center base rather than four legs in the corners. You can find tables like this in many specialty furniture stores. One great place to look is at yard sales and estate sales where people will be selling old furniture from their homes. These are very authentic. The most common seating choice for the diner table is vinyl booths. Red and black are popular colors. The vinyl is usually durable and very easy to clean. I have seen very nice sets that have a three-piece booth that fits in the corner with a high back. It is constructed of a short piece, a corner piece that is at a 45-degree angle with the other pieces, and a long piece. The high back sits against the walls. The other long side is usually a bench with no back or chairs. Most 1950s breakfast nook sets do not put seating at both of the small ends of the table so that it is more reminiscent of a Diner booth. If you do not use booths for seating, another option is aluminum chairs with vinyl seats. These chairs are usually bright colors like red or pastel colors like pink, green, or yellow.

A second option that is very retro is the high table with backless counter stools. Most 1950s soda shoppes or diners had counters where people could sit to eat. You can recreate that feeling by choosing a tall table with the stools around it or using your kitchen island as a counter. The stools are usually aluminum or some other metal and the seats are usually vinyl. Sometimes, the stool will swivel. This is also very authentic.

In addition to the furniture, there are other touches that you can make to make your retro kitchen and breakfast nook more genuine. Laminate floors were very popular back then. They are considered a little low brow these days, but if you really want your space to feel like a different time then it just would not be right to have wood or tile floors. Another trendy style in the 50s was wood paneling on the walls. Many times the wood paneling would go half way or three quarters of the way up the wall and the rest of the wall would be covered in very garish wallpaper or painted a pastel yellow or burnt orange. People were not afraid to use color when decorating in the 1950s. Curtains are more appropriate than blinds because they were more in style then. The small details are what make the difference between a cute imitation and a real retro room.

As summer gets into full swing, you might be thinking about how to best use your breakfast nook during this season. Rooms like the morning room that have many windows are great places to enjoy the splendor of summer. There are several reasons that you can enjoy and utilize this room more during the warmer months.

Lots of sun and beautiful scenery make the experience of eating or sitting in your breakfast nook much nicer. While light gets into a room full of windows any time of the year, the spring and summer offer a unique period of extended daylight and lush scenery. Your breakfast nook is likely to have sunlight pouring in for more hours during the summer because of the length of the day. One nice side effect is that the sun rises earlier and sets later in the summer and you are likely to avoid sunlight directly in your eyes when you are eating breakfast or dinner. This makes mealtime much nicer. In addition, in the summer, the grass is green and flowers, bushes, and trees are blooming so the scenery is much nicer than the bleakness of winter. If you do not have a yard to look out onto, then you are more likely to see people out and about and more things going on outdoors during the summer, which is nice for people watching and entertainment.

In addition to the increased daylight and more enjoyable scenery, there are other advantages of the breakfast nook during the summer. Flowers are more available during the summer months and you can decorate your breakfast nook table with fresh flowers. The color that fresh cut flowers bring to the room can accentuate or bring out subtle colors in your wallpaper, kitchen counters, china, curtains, or placemats. The availability of this living decoration increases your decorating opportunities.

If you have children, they will definitely be spending more time outside during the summer. A room with windows on all sides gives a parent a panoramic view of where their children are playing. You can get bills paid, do the dishes or read a book at your breakfast nook bench while still keeping an eye on your kids. Sitting outside is difficult because the wind might blow your work around. The comfortable sitting areas in your breakfast nook make it a great place to work and still be close to your playing tots.

The visibility afforded by the many walls of windows makes the breakfast nook a room that is much more enjoyable and useful during the summer. Start using this great room today!

Most people spend a lot of time in their eat-in kitchens or morning rooms so breakfast nook cushions for chairs and benches can make that time more comfortable. Also cushions can brighten a room while enhancing the overall decorating motif.

Breakfast nook tables are a gathering place for eating meals, playing games, doing homework or paying bills, family talks, and visiting with guests. You want to make sure that your seating arrangements are comfortable so that people will not feel the need to move or get up prematurely. Seat pads can help make almost any type of seat more comfortable. They have cushions for individual chairs that are round, square, or oval depending on the shape of the seat. They also have cushions for benches. Sometimes bench pads will need to be special ordered because your bench might not be of a typical size. There are other benefits to using seat cushions other than making the seat more comfortable.

The cushions can be a fantastic decorating element in your morning room. They are the perfect opportunity to add a touch of color to the room. The table and chairs will most likely be wood, glass, or metal so there will not be much color there. The cushions can be solid colors or patterns and play off the color scheme in your kitchen or even other rooms in your home. You can choose very plush cushions for a homey feel or cushions that are thinner for a more streamlined look. Your seat padding does not have to be the same year round. You can change them depending on the season or certain holidays. For the past few years, I use dark red cushions with a velour finish during the fall and winter and then I switch to a light orange linen covered cushion in the spring and summer. If you’re in doubt about making sure everything goes well together, you can buy a breakfast nook set that comes with cushions.

Another reason that you might want to use cushions on your breakfast nook seats is that they help to protect the chairs. Especially if you have children, chairs can become worn and marked up with time. Kids sit on their knees and their shoes are scratching the seat with every movement. Every time you have to clean the surface of your chair with a harsh cleaner to clear away food that your children might have spilled there, you tarnish the surface a bit. If you use cushions the seats or benches will be protected from the worst of the scratching and falling food. If you want to maximize this benefit be sure to get cushions that are washable so that it is easy to clean them up. No matter what your motivation, breakfast nook cushions are a nice addition to any kitchen.
