In order to spend quality time together, you want the whole family to be able to sit at one table with whatever guests they might bring along. Benches might help you increase the number of people that can fit around your table because you can typically fit one and a half people on a bench that takes up the same amount of room as one chair.

Family time is very important and many families might use the breakfast nook set as a place to gather for family meetings or family game night. On the other hand, the chairs are very nice because they are more comfortable for some people to sit in. Not everyone one likes sliding in and out of a long booth or bench.

Another positive for the Soho Delfino is the materials of construction. These high quality materials will last a long time and look good too. Chrome legs support the black tabletop. The chrome is carried over into the legs of the chairs and benches as well. The final place that you see the chrome is in bars that create open space between the bench seats and the bench backs. I like this touch because when the bench seats and bench backs are continuous, it reminds me of diner booths. The chrome separators provide a much more modern look. The fabric on the benches and chairs is a velvety microfiber that comes in five different colors: red, black, beige, eggplant, and Moroccan brown. Microfibers are known for their durability and softness.

The one down side of this breakfast nook furniture set is perhaps the cost. It is one of the more expensive sets that I have come across. I have seen it advertised for around $1,279. This might be a lot of money for someone to spend on kitchen furniture, but I think it is worth it. The furniture is of good quality and should last a long time. The modern look is a plus considering you are getting seating for eight. Usually larger breakfast nook sets are more country themed. It is hard to find modern looking furniture for a large family.

Breakfast nook tables are a gathering place for eating meals, playing games, doing homework or paying bills, family talks, and visiting with guests. You want to make sure that your seating arrangements are comfortable so that people will not feel the need to move or get up prematurely. You do not have to think solely about their utilitarian attributes when selecting your breakfast nook set. We have shown in this post that there are plenty of opportunities to decorate your breakfast nook without hanging anything on the wall space. Nevertheless, if you wish to do so, there are options. Arts and crafts stores sell decal packages that are meant to be hung on glass that you can use to decorate your windows. These decals are meant to give the impression that the glass panes in the windows are etched. You can also find special paints that are meant to allow light to shine through them. These types of decorating projects are fun for children to participate in and are not permanent. So, if you can always changes your mind. Another way to utilize your window space for hanging art is to use stained glass. You can either learn to do it yourself, or buy small stained glass ornaments and then hang them from your windows with suction cups. The natural light will shine through them and allow you to appreciate their beauty fully.

Decorating is in the details and making a few small changes can go a long way. Whatever approach you choose to decorate your breakfast nook, remember that every piece of furniture and every item you put in the room is an opportunity to express yourself and have fun!

Curtains are a good place to start.  I prefer either sheer curtains or voile curtains.  Their loose open weave gives them a translucent quality that allows plenty of light to pass through them.  Both types have the added benefit of softening up your breakfast nook.  The one drawback to voile curtains might be that they are too open and allow too much light to get through.  In this case, you should combine the voile curtain with another window treatment.  Perhaps a window shade or cheap window blinds.

There are a number of different styles of shades to choose from.  I like honeycomb or cellular shades because they are translucent and have the added benefit of providing some insulation to your window.  Linen pleated window shades are also an excellent choice.  They have a similar look as the honeycomb shades, but are less expensive, making them great for people on a budget.  A third shade option is roman shades.  Roman shades are relatively inexpensive, are fairly easy to install, and fairly easy to maintain.  It might be a bit tricky to find a roman shade that lets in enough light.  So don’t fall in love with a particular pattern before you take a sample home and test it out.  Shades can do the job on their own or in combination with one of the curtain options mentioned earlier.

Another window treatment option is window blinds.  The actual blinds themselves might not be translucent, but the adjustable openness of the blinds gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of how much light gets in.  Most woven blinds don’t have a fine light adjustment mechanism, so you might want to pass on woven blinds.

Finally, I’d like to discuss window flower boxes.  Although, they’re not technically a window treatment, they can go a long way toward enhancing the ambience and beauty of your breakfast nook.  Like most people, I’m not fortunate enough to have my kitchen face a pool or garden.  That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the beauty of flora.  Window boxes are mini gardens that attach to your house, generally below your window.  If you live in an apartment or rent, you can buy optional hanging elements for your window box.
